Award Recognizes Entrepreneurial Excellence in Software Category

AMERICAN FORK, Utah - July 22, 2008 - Mozy, Inc., an EMC Company (NYSE:EMC) and the leader in online backup for businesses and consumers, today announced that Josh Coates, the founder of the Mozy online backup business, received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award in the software category in Utah. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. An independent panel of judges selected Josh Coates and presented him the award June 27, 2008 at a gala event at the Salt Palace Convention Center.

In 2005, Josh Coates founded Berkeley Data Systems, the company behind the Mozy online backup service. In 2007, the company was acquired by EMC Corporation and is operated today as a wholly owned subsidiary within the EMC Cloud Infrastructure and Services Division.

"It’s amazing what you can do with the right team and the right technology – and we’re just getting started," Coates said. "We’ve got the stability and support of a Fortune 500 company, but we still have the autonomy of a startup."

Mozy automatically protects a person’s digital information, including photos, music, spreadsheets and financial documents, from data loss in the event of hard drive crash, accidental deletion, natural disaster or theft. All files are encrypted first on the users’ machine and then securely transferred to Mozy’s remote data centers via the same encryption methods used for online banking. Mozy offers a suite of backup solutions that meet the needs of consumers, small businesses, and enterprise customers.

The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year awards celebrate their 22nd anniversary this year. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.

"Ernst & Young is pleased to honor outstanding business leaders such as Josh Coates," said David Jolley, Managing Partner and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Program Director for Utah. “Winners of the Entrepreneur Of The Year award build leading businesses and contribute a great deal to the communities around them. Their success helps Utah grow stronger.”

As a Utah award winner, Josh Coates is now eligible for consideration for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2008 national program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 15, 2008.
