Data Recovery

As an online backup service, Mozy keeps a secondary copy of your files in secure data centers. If you lose your primary file copy via file corruption, accidental deletion, or hardware failure, Mozy allows you to obtain the secondary copy.

Email Backup

If you're using Microsoft Outlook, you have a PST or Personal Folder File which stores all the email files, email folders, contacts, and any other personal data related to Microsoft Outlook on your computer. Mozy stores a copy of this PST file so that if you ever experience a hard drive crash, virus, or computer theft, restoring the PST file to a new computer will give you access to your email files, folders, and contacts again.

Mozy is smart enough to just back up the files that have been added or changed since the last backup. This is important because PST files can be extremely large. While the first backup of a 5 GB Outlook PST file may take a few hours, subsequent backups will be lightning fast. Only the 2 MB or so of data you add per day will need to be backed up. Mozy does not need to back up the entire 5 GB file all over again, saving valuable time and bandwidth.

Traditional backup methods such as CDs and external hard drives are susceptible to theft, fire, flooding, and other natural disasters.
