SEATTLE – May 18, 2012 – More than 90% of entrepreneurs and small business owners feel cloud-based backup could benefit their business, according to a recent survey by Mozy®, the world's most trusted provider of data protection and availability for consumers and businesses. While it is encouraging that so many businesses are enthusiastic about using cloud services, the survey revealed that a mere 15% of small companies actually use cloud backup to protect their business.

Approximately two-thirds do have some form of backup – which is encouraging because any cloud service should complement an existing local backup strategy – but most of these onsite methods, such as tape or DVDs, are antiquated and susceptible to f...

Celebrate World Backup Day March 31 by Backing Up Business Data Today

SEATTLE – March 29, 2012 – Mozy®, the world’s most trusted provider of data protection and availability for consumers and businesses, released surprising new statistics: One-third of small-to-midsize businesses (SMBs) allow employees to select their own method of backup for their data at work – essentially passing the buck when it comes to data protection. This is concerning because companies that don’t provide formal policies instead rely on uncoordinated backup practices that can leave business owners susceptible to significant risks in the event of data loss. World Backup Day is an excellent opportunity for SMBs to reevaluate their company backup policies. They can then implement a safe and reliable protection service for their valuable company and client data.

The Mozy survey of more than 640 SMBs was conducted by independent research firm Compass Part...

SEATTLE – March 12, 2012 – Mozy®, the industry-leading online backup service, released the surprising results of a data protection survey. The survey, produced by Mozy and independent market research firm Compass Partners, LLC, found that an increasing number of professionals (80 percent) work remotely and rely on personal devices such as smartphones (63 percent), iPads (30 percent) and laptops (80 percent) to access company data. The study profiled several professions that routinely handle sensitive client information, including medical practices, legal, real estate, and financial service firms. It found that they were at even greater risk compared t...
