Release Notes:
New or Changed Features for 2.5
- Leopard users - An autoupdate issue affecting users running Mac OS X 10.5.x has been resolved in this release. If you have previously attempted to autoupdate and have experienced issues, you need to manually install this release. Once you have applied the update, autoupdate on subsequent releases will work correctly.
- Improved the messaging in the Encryption Settings window on using Personal Key Encryption to clearly show the advantages and disadvantages.
- Modified Welcome page during install to provide a list of the resources available to assist you during install, activation, and configuration.
- Added the Decrypt Utility to the advanced options menu to make it more accessible. To open the Decrypt Utility right-click the backup icon in the menu bar and select Open Decrypt.
- Added the ability to configure a subdomain by adding the /subdomain switch to the auth command in the CLI.
- Added support for an automated silent uninstall in the CLI. Note: For additional details on using the new switches and the CLI, refer to the Administrators Guide.
- Added a notification when Data Shuttle is inserted to inform the user that the drive was recognized and is formatting the drive for use.
- Modified the notification message when nearing the usage limit. Users will receive notification at 10% left of quota and have the option to dismiss. The message will not be displayed again until 5% and 2% storage capacity remaining.
- Added support for Server Key Chain in the Suggested Files/Folders (backup set) menu. The Backup Set includes any key chains in the /Network/Library/Keychains folder when this option is selected.
- The Virtual Machine backup set has been updated. The default search location in Where to Search has been changed from /Documents to no specified location to ensure that all virtual machines are included in the backup regardless of where they are saved.
Bug Fixes in 2.5.1
- The number of files backed up and the size were displaying incorrectly in the admin console.
Bug Fixes in 2.5.0
- After rebooting, backup count incorrectly showed 0 files during the scanning process.
- Status icon did not show correct status after running a manual backup if automatic backups had been suspended.
- Running restore while a backup is in process crashed the application when closing. Updated to prevent running restore and backup simultaneously.
- Network change or disruption caused backup to fail; must Force Quit or restart system to resume.
- Cancelling a backup in process sometimes caused the backup client to crash.
- Login failed after a new installation when the email, username, or product key entered contained blank spaces. Blank spaces are now filtered out from these fields.
- Installation process indicated failure when the administrators "short name" contained spaces. The message indicated install failure, although it did complete successfully.
- Changed files on a network volume share were not always being included in the backup if the change was made by a computer other than the host on which the share resides.
- History page failed to display on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) when the history database contained new information.
- Auto-upgrades failed on Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) causing backups to stop. To resolve the issue, you must manually install the update. Once updated, future auto-updates occur normally.
Known Issues in 2.5.0
- Restore.app stalls during restore - Restoring within the application may cause a stall during the process. To resume restoring, you may need to Force Quit and restart your backup software.
- Backup hangs, can't be paused without killing the backup process - Occasionally, the backup process will hang. To resume backing up, you will need to Force Quit and restart your backup software.
