MozyPro Provides Reliable Backup for AlphaGraphics Corporate and Franchise Locations

AlphaGraphics, a leader in print, design, and marketing services, made the decision to adopt cloud backup through MozyPro. Two years ago AlphaGraphics set about devising a better backup solution for its franchisees. Because AlphaGraphics locations deal in data—from business card layouts to massive banner and poster designs—reliability and speed are critical. "An AlphaGraphics customer's data doesn't turn into revenue for our franchises until the finished product is delivered—it's like inventory in a warehouse, and protecting that inventory is highly important to our franchisees," says Marc Cressall, Network Security Specialist for AlphaGraphics.

The service, dubbed "AG Backup," is provided on a contract basis to their franchisees and supported by AlphaGraphics IT Support Services. The service has already helped one franchisee stay operational the same day of a server crash, because files were immediately available for retrieval from the Mozy cloud. "MozyPro strongly appealed to us because we can help our franchisees manage it and take the stress of data protection away from them," he says. "The solution is robust, and they know that if they have a hard disk crash or the loss of a single file, we will be able to help them get up and running again as quickly as possible."

AlphaGraphics experimented with another cloud backup provider and quickly discovered the advantage of Mozy's transparent pricing. "The other provider counted our backup history as part of our storage quota. We expected our backup costs to fall 20% but they actually almost doubled!" Cressall says.

Due to a couple of laptop data loss events, management and IT leadership realized that could not be allowed to happen again. Implementing MozyPro has provided peace of mind for corporate users and has already helped the company recover files lost in transition during personnel changes.

Sticking with Mozy gives AlphaGraphics the consistent and dependable service it needs to provide turnkey data protection to its independent franchises. Dozens of AlphaGraphics franchise locations are already live with Mozy, in addition to over 60 corporate PCs and Macs. The company is looking forward to bringing more locations into the Mozy cloud, and history suggests that they will be happy with what they find. "Our franchisees typically transfer anywhere from two to three gigabytes per day, in and out," he says. "Mozy handles it well."
