Firewall Help: Norton Internet Security
| Open Norton Internet Security (NIS) by double clicking on the NIS icon in the Windows icon tray (usually the bottom right-hand corner of your screen). | ![]() |
NIS will open with a configuration screen where you may access the Personal Firewall settings in addition to other NIS settings. To configure Personal Firewall for Mozy, select Personal Firewall (1) then press the Configure Button (2). |

When the Firewall screen appears, select the Programs tab (3) then press the Add button near the bottom of the screen (4). |

When the Select a program screen appears, by default NIS will have the Program Files folder open. If during Mozy installation you installed Mozy to the default location, you will find the Mozy folder within the Program Files folder. If you installed Mozy in a different location, you will need to browse to that location. Double click or open the Mozy folder (5). In the Mozy folder, select MozyBackup.exe (6) and press Open (7). |

NIS will now ask how you want to treat MozyConfig.exe whenever it attempts to access the internet. Select Permit Always from the drop-down list (8). Then, press OK (9). |

You will now be returned to the Program Control tab. Notice that Mozy Backup Service has an Internet Access status of Permit All (10). Notice also that Mozy Configuration should also be listed with a status of Permit All (10). If it is not listed or its status is something else, you will need to repeat the firewall setup process for the MozyConfig.exe file. |

| When Mozy Backup Service and Mozy Configuration are both in the Program Control list with a status of Permit All, you may exit the NIS configuration. Mozy should work with NIS now. When using NIS, be sure you are running LiveUpdate reasonably frequently, as Symantec updates NIS for known compatibility issues with other software, such as Mozy. |
