My name is Alesha and I work for Mozy

Continuing with our series on introducing you to some of our talented team members who directly contribute to the success of Mozy.  This month, we’d like to showcase one of our supporting pillars  – Alesha Healey.  Alesha ensures that all the gears that make Mozy work are oiled and everyone gets what they need, as one of the Administrative Assistants, Alesha is one of the most approachable and accommodating people at Mozy.  She is always willing to help and her sense of humor makes her an incredible asset.

My name is Alesha and I work for Mozy

I define my workspace as …
A cluster truck of crap! (can I say that on this blog?!!) I would like to have less in my workspace but every time I get rid of something, two other items pop up to take its place. I’ve stopped trying.

A device I can’t live without …jack
I love my iPad and would marry it if I could!

When I arrive at work, I typically start off by …
To help me with my job, I have access to about 27 different programs and once I’ve logged into them and filled up my water bottle, I get to work.

My work routine is …
I have a running task list that I work from (thank you iPad!) It never ends, which is a good thing. I would rather be busy than not.

I do/do not listen to music at work and it helps me work better because …
It depends on what I am working on… Expense reports? Yes! They can be mind-numbing and the music helps me keep my sanity. Email or scheduling? No! Frankly, I am just not that talented.

The best advice I can give a recent college graduate looking to do what I do is …
Make sure that you like what you do and have a little fun every day.

Outside of work, I am passionate about …
Cooking and baking, I enjoy finding and creating new recipes. There is nothing more satisfying than preparing something with my own two hands knowing that it might just bring a little joy to the peeps I love.
Author’s note: I knew there was a reason I liked Alesha – she and I share the same passion for cooking and baking…great minds!

My eating habits are …
Sporadic at best, I either eat way too much or nothing at all. Very healthy, I know. ☺ I do love ice cream!!!

If I could be someone for a day – I would be …
Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. She barely has to work but somehow always has the money to get drunk with her friends and buy fabulous shoes!
Author’s note: another reason why I like Alesha…what’s not to love about Carrie Bradshaw??!!

The “secret sauce” that makes me who I am …
I am crazy clumsy. I fall down and/or get hurt way more than any adult should. I choose to just laugh, be happy and live in the moment. Even if that moment is painful… ☺
Author’s note: Alesha’s modesty is evident in her response, as she never addresses that fact that without her Mozy would be between a rock and a hard place since she keeps everyone on track.

My name is Zac and I work for Mozy

Welcome back to our “My name is … and I work for Mozy” blog series. We started this series about six months ago in an effort to showcase some of the incredible talent that is housed under the Mozy umbrella. We’ve attempted to expand across all our functional areas to show you that Mozy has successfully managed to find the best-of-the-best in talent. And I, for one, am excited to have the opportunity to work with incredible people, day in and day out.

This month, we’d like you to meet Zac Paynter. Zac is one of our Financial Analysts and is part of the Finance Team at Mozy. He handles company headcount, analysis and budgeting for customer support, general/administrative and Research & Development. In addition, he also works on forecasting, cost analysis, monthly close procedures, and financial reporting. As you can see there is a lot that Zac does and we are grateful he found a few minutes to help us with this blog series. The world really needed to know about Zac…and no, you can’t have him!

My name is Zac and I work at Mozy

I define my workspace as …
My home away from home…after all, I spend most of my day here with people that are fun to be around. You could also call it my science lab where financial genius is born.

A device I can’t live without …
A basketball. Nobody said it had to be an electronic device…

When I arrive at work, I typically start off by …
Downing my protein drink, filling my water bottle, answering emails, and taking a deep breath as I prepare for another busy day.

My work routine is …
Changing day by day, but the same month to month. A week of closing the books, a week of reporting, a week of forecasting, and a week of catching up on everything else.

I do/do not listen to music at work and it helps me work better because …
It helps me “get into the zone.” Sometimes it’s nice to shut out any outside distractions coming from extremely loud co-workers and turn up the productivity while enjoying movie scores from The Dark Knight, Inception, Gladiator, Transformers, Sherlock Holmes, and Dirty Dancing….wait… scratch that last one.
Author’s note: Zac is most likely referring to the Marketing team when he refers to “extremely loud co-workers” – he has the unfortunate luck of having been assigned to a cubicle right by us. I will, however, say that he can dish it as well as he can take it and we never get tired of giving him a hard time!

The best advice I can give a recent college graduate looking to do what I do is …
Prepare for the worst and expect the best. Finance is very demanding but also extremely rewarding. On one hand, you come to know the business very well while on the other hand; you have constant deadlines that tend to raise stress levels. Keep that Ibuprofen close by. ☺

Outside of work, I am passionate about …
Family, friends, mountain biking, hiking, camping, pretty much every sport that doesn’t involve a racquet. I’m currently training for a half-marathon, the Wasatch Back Ragnar Relay and the Spartan Beast this summer.

My eating habits are …
Sporadic to say the least – green smoothies, brown rice, and veggies one day to pizza and chicken wings the next. I’m a bit of a social eater.

If I could be someone for a day – I would be …
Blake Griffin. Dude can jump! I’ve always wondered what it’s like up there. Plus those Kia commercials he’s in make me laugh pretty hard!

The “secret sauce” that makes me who I am …
Positive attitude, work ethic, spontaneity, sense of humor, and desire to learn.

My name is Todd and I work for Mozy

In the past few months, we’ve introduced you to some of our amazing team members who dedicate their skills and talents that make Mozy an amazing company. This month we would like to introduce you to Todd Esplin, one of our very talented product managers. Todd is based out of Pleasant Grove, Utah offices and has provided tremendous insight and direction to making our competitive offerings world-class.

My name is Todd and I work at Mozy

I define my workspace as …
Doing product strategy, management, and development to build competitive products, roadmaps and features.

A device I can’t live without …
iPhone (yes, still) but a whiteboard is a close second.

When I arrive at work, I typically start off by …
Meeting with a project team or business team to report out on active initiatives or plan new ones.

My work routine is …
Active. We’ve adopted an agile process for getting things done. So, at the beginning of each week I write down on 3×5 cards what I want to get done for the week, prioritize them and decide how long each will take to get done. Then, each day I review the list with my team and move the cards through their progression. I leave additional time for routine things like email and meetings. During the day, I spend a lot of time writing down ideas about our products and features and then talking to others about the ideas.

I do/do not listen to music at work and it helps me work better because …
I listen to music when I need to write and really concentrate. . We were work in an open environment and I get easily distracted by interesting conversations and . . . well, birds flying past my window, so music helps me block out many distractions. I usually listen to classical music while I’m writing – it also prevents me from singing out loud which apparently my colleagues find harmful (I think they are just jealous).

The best advice I can give a recent college graduate looking to do what I do is …
Get a good technical education, couple that with a business education and top it off with compassion for those who buy and use your products. Customers may not always be able to tell you what they want but they can definitely tell you when they don’t like what you give them and you need to listen, ask good questions, and use their feedback to make the product better.

Outside of work, I am passionate about …

  • My family. I have a great wife and four cool kids. We are in the mix of it all right now – high school, middle school, and elementary. Boys, girls, a dog, and a bearded dragon. Music lessons, sports teams, family vacations. It’s not always easy but it’s awesome. My wife and I love to go to movies and find great places to eat.
  • Learning. I read a lot whenever possible through all types of tools (real books, digital books, magazines, web). Current topics include: architecture, sports, psychology, mysteries, and adventure fantasies. I love reading books to my kids.
  • Sports. I’ve run a couple of marathons and relay races. I love to play golf with my dad, brothers, and kids.

My eating habits are …
Quirky. Because of my awesome body, I get to eat six times a day in order to keep things, um … right. I love breakfast (lots of fiber) and occasionally some protein. I like most types of food with a heavier emphasis on Mexican, Thai, and Italian. Oh yes, I do love a good hamburger too.

If I could be someone for a day – I would be …
A grand prix driver. While there are many people and professions to choose from, but a professional driver would be a rush. I love cars, speed, and endurance and it would be so fun to feel the power and adrenaline of driving fast and technically maneuvering around a track.

The “secret sauce” that makes me who I am …
Hmmm . . . I guess it’s that I really want people to be happy and fulfilled. If they are buying something from me, then I want them to love it and get value out of it. If I’m going to lunch with someone, I want them to enjoy themselves. If I’m running a project, then I want the team to feel like they are engaged – developing themselves and improving and having fun.

This isn’t Todd’s first appearance on the Mozy blog. In fact, you can see him in action in this post about MozyEnterprise.

My name is Traci and I work for Mozy

Last month we piloted our series “My name is ____ and I work for Mozy.” This series is our way to introduce you to some of the extraordinary people that work at Mozy and who are the catalysts to why Mozy is a great company.

This month, we’d like to introduce you to Traci Magleby, Sales Manager with the “most-est.” Traci manages the sales team for the West Area for Mozy’s EMC Backup and Recovery Services team. In addition to being an extremely approachable and compassionate person, Traci also works with our EMC Partners to close deals to their customer base for Mozy’s military-grade security enabled cloud backup and recovery enterprise offerings.

My name is Traci and I work for Mozy

I define my workspace as …
Functional and inviting (a mix of job-essential items with mementos & pictures of my family). I want my space to be approachable, where anyone feels welcome.

A device I can’t live without …
iPhone

When I arrive at work, I typically start off by …
I usually arrive to work before my team which gives me the opportunity to jumpstart my day. I go through my email inbox, check my calendar for appointments that day and schedule time into my calendar for tackling must-do items. I also start completing my tasks in Salesforce. Once my team arrives, I take time to check in with each of them and find out their schedules for the day and any items needing my attention.

My work routine is …
My work routine varies day to day. Some days I am in a boardroom all day reviewing my team’s pipeline or on management calls. Other days, I am on the road, training partners or visiting customers. And then other days, I am at my desk going through spreadsheets and reports. I try to ensure that I communicate with members of my team daily and do everything I can to help make it easier for them to sell Mozy!

I do/do not listen to music at work and it helps me work better because …
Even though I love music, I seldom listen to music at work. I find that in my position, I am constantly being asked questions and communicating with my team. I like my team to know I am accessible when they need me – I don’t want earphones to get in the way! An added benefit is that it allows me to overhear conversations my team is having with partners and customers. It keeps me in the loop on their deals and allows me to provide any needed feedback.

The best advice I can give a recent college graduate looking to do what I do is …
People buy from people! Relationship building is crucial so start now in building your network and relationships.

Outside of work, I am passionate about …
My family, the outdoors and being creative.

My eating habits are …
I drink lots of water and bring snacks from home so I’m not tempted to indulge in the free soda pop and less healthy options in our break room. At home during dinnertime, I gather my family together almost daily and my favorite part is the conversations we have. I’ve been attempting to curb my sweet tooth this year, so I have limited to having sugar or dessert to once a week. My kids have joined me in this goal and I’m surprised with how well they are doing.

If I could be someone for a day – I would be …
I would choose my grandmother – she’s one of my biggest heroes. She has such a zest for life and I love how she handles life’s hard situations with confidence and grace. I benefit from her wisdom and would enjoy learning more of what makes her who she is.

The “secret sauce” that makes me who I am …
I try to give my time to things that matter the most in my life and I try to live a life full of gratitude. I hope I’m remembered this way.

My name is Zach and I work for Mozy

Mozy is a great place to work. We’ve won “Utah’s Best Place to Work” four times in a row. We’re successful; our products are secure and sustainable, and we value our customers and their feedback.

All that being said, Mozy wouldn’t be the amazing place it is without our dedicated, passionate and generous team members. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by extremely intelligent people who inspire others to strive to be better co-workers but more importantly, better humans who meaningfully contribute to the world.

To make you jealous of our fortune (and to be brag about our team members), we are starting a series aimed at introducing you to the incredible people that make up Mozy.

We’d like to begin by introducing you to meet Zach Moffett. Zach is our Community Manager (also addressed as Sensei) for our robust Support Portal. In addition to undertaking the deceivingly hard Gluten free diet regime, Zach manages the Community forum where our customers can find peer-to-peer advice and help. He writes, produces, directs and is featured in many of our Support tutorial videos. Zach also engages our customers on our social channels and contributes to our blogs.

I define my workspace as …
An efficient setting where I can get things done and entertain company at the same time.

A device I can’t live without …
iPhone with Audible.

When I arrive at work, I typically start off by …
Amp Energy drink and beef jerky.

My work routine is …
Stretch, yawn, go to meetings, talk to customers and take a nap in the sun (weather permitting).

I do/do not listen to music at work and it helps me work better because …
It doesn’t. My productivity drops in half. That being said, I really love listening to Imagine Dragons Radio on Pandora.

The best advice I can give a recent college graduate looking to do what I do is …
Stay positive, know the research and come through on your commitments.

Outside of work, I am passionate about …
I am enrolled full-time in grad school and I love spending time with my wonderful wife.

My eating habits are …
Beef Jerky and Gummy Bears. Is that a habit?

If I could be someone for a day – I would be …
Iron Man. I’d settle for Tony Stark.

The “secret sauce” that makes me who I am …
Author’s note: Zach refused to provide his “secret sauce” – I personally think this he has super powers and doesn’t want us to know about them so I’ll boast for him and say that Zach is extremely helpful and has a vast depth of understanding on how to make our customers feel heard and more importantly, help them! Plus he has a freakishly clean desk…considering his eating habits ;)
